The Black Cat Theory

The Black Cat Theory were a short-lived experimental bluegrass / jazz project. Founding members John Dowling and Jez Wing won the 2000 BBC Young Folk Award before recruiting bassist John Parker and drummer Josh Clark, with whom they recorded an album, and toured the UK folk circuit throught 2001.

The members went on to have success in other projects: John Parker had a No.1 hit single ashalf of Nizlopi, John Dowling won the Winfield US Banjo championships, and taught banjo to comic Frank Skinner in a BBC TV series, Jez Wing has more recently performed as a member of Amsterdam and Echo and the Bunnymen on world tours, and Josh Clark went on to perform with The Scoville Units, whilst pursueing a career in recording and mastering.
